This video shows you how to configure the amount of time your system waits for a dial tone from the receiving side when sending faxes.
Depending on your recipient's telephony configuration, it may be necessary to adjust your delay for dial tone waiting on outbound fax calls.
This is configured in different places depending on your faxing solution, and your needs.
First, with a physical fax board such as the Brooktrout TR1034 or TR114 series, there is a CD timeout configuration for the number of seconds to wait, located in the Global Transport settings under the Brooktrout heading in the RightFax Doctransport Module when you have a board installed and configured.
Second, with Fax-Over-IP integrations using the SR140 or OpenText FOIP channel-licensed SR140, you will make the change in the Brooktrout configuration in Advanced Mode. Go into the BTCall Parameters Advanced Settings and adjust the Time To Wait for CED Tone to an appropriate setting in 10x Milliseconds. The default value here for United States configuration is 4000.
Make sure to save and apply you configurations when making changes in the Brooktrout configuration utility.
One final note. If you need to create a delay on your own end to wait for a signal on the line for an outbound fax call, you can make adjustments in the form of commas that represent delays of 1 second per comma. These can be added as global rules in the RightFax Doctransport Module Global Transport Settings under Dialing Settings in the Prefix section and this will create a delay on all outbound fax calls from this board. You can also set this is part of a dialing rule for specific numbers you pattern match to and then configured as part of the prepend section under Number Adjustments.
Note that depending on your specific version of RightFax, you may need to make a registry adjustment to add the comma as a recognized character in a dialing rule.
Make sure to save dialing rules when changes are made.
Be advised some adjustment and testing may need to occur in order to get a timeout value configured to work as needed whether you are using physical boards or virtual.
