Hello my name is Jay Campbell with The Fax Guys for RightFax University.
This video was recorded at 1280 by 720 resolution for High Definition and is best viewed in full screen mode.
This video walks you through the process to re-associate your .301/TIFF image files with the RightFax Viewer.
The .301 or any .30x files are the raw TIFF data that the fax server receives from the fax boards or FOIP faxing solution.
Since they are actually TIFF files, sometimes Windows or an application will associate them with another application, which may prevent the fax viewer from displaying the files correctly.
To resolve this you will need to re-associate the files with the Fax Viewer.
To make the RightFax Fax Viewer application the default program for viewing TIFF files (.tiff or .tif), or files with a .301 extension in the RightFax\Image folder, locate the desired file, and use one of the following methods:
•Right-click the file, go to properties and choose Open With > Choose default program... Select vfaxvw32.exe program from the list, or browse to the \RightFax\Shared Files directory, and select wfaxvw32.exe. If you want the association to be permanent, check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
•Go to Control Panel > Default Programs, and click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. Highlight the file extension, click Change Program, then select wfaxvw32.exeWFAXVW32.exe, or browse to the above location to select it.
Note: These instructions apply to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. For other versions of Windows try the following steps:
- In Windows Server 2012, to make the association permanent, select Use this app for all .tif files. If the program is not listed, click More options, and then click Look for another app on this PC.
- To access the file associations list in Windows Server 2003, go to Control Panel > Folder Options, and click on the File Types tab.
That should take care of your .30x/TIFF file associations for the RightFax Viewer.
As always, if you have any questions about this topic, or any topic in the world of faxing, let us know at The Fax Guys, we are always happy to help.
