Hello my name is Jay Campbell with The Fax Guys for RightFax University. This video covers a common problem with RightFax Print-to-fax integration with Abobe versions XI.x, or more commonly known as Adobe 11. This video was recorded at 1280 by 720 resolution for High Definition and is best viewed in full screen mode.
On a computer with the RightFax FaxUtil client installed, when you print to the RightFax Fax Printer from Adobe Reader 11.0.6 or 11.0.0, the Fax Information dialog box does not appear.
This problem occurs when the Protected Mode option is enabled in Adobe Reader XI. Protected Mode runs the application in a "sandbox", which prevents PDF documents from accessing potentially sensitive areas of the system such as folder and file paths.
Note: This feature is known to be enabled by default in Adobe Reader 11.0.6 and 11.0.06; however, other versions of Adobe Reader may exhibit the same behavior.
Use the following steps to troubleshoot this problem:
First verify that the problem only occurs in Adobe Reader by
using another application to print to the RightFax Fax Printer.
If the Fax Information dialog box does not appear when printing from another application, use the RightFax System Tray tool to ensure that the type for the RightFax Fax Printer is set to RightFax instead of Windows.
If the RightFax Fax Printer appears to be configured correctly otherwise, the following steps should resolve the issue for you:
Disable "Protected Mode" in Adobe Reader:
In Adobe Reader, go to Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)
Uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" checkbox.
Restart Adobe Reader for the change to take effect.
If you are still seeing issues with printing from Adobe after the above change is made, you may need to create a policy for Adobe Reader to be allowed to print to the RightFax Fax Printer, although this step is typically not needed and requires editing the Windows registry, and also requires a system reboot. While it is beyond the scope of this video, the process is well documented and Fax Guys Help Desk can assist with this process if you need further assistance.
That is all for Disabling Protected Mode in Adobe 11 to allow Print-to-Fax functionality to work as expected.
