This video will walk you through configuring outbound caller ID from your Brooktrout fax solution on your RightFax server.

Hello my name is Jay Campbell with The Fax Guys for RightFax University.

This video will walk you through configuring outbound caller ID from your Brooktrout fax solution on your RightFax server.

This video was recorded at 1280 by 720 resolution for High Definition and is best viewed in full screen mode.

Depending on your network or service provider requirements, you may have to provide a valid caller ID in order for a fax call to process out beyond the fax server. Also be aware, your network or telephony administrator or provider may describe this as DID, while not actually Direct Inward Dialing strictly speaking from the fax sending perspective, it may be configured in a field designated as a DID number or identifier somewhere in the configuration for media gateways or call managers beyond the fax server -- if your administrator or provider is asking that you specify DID for the outbound call, Caller ID is likely what they are requesting.

Currently, this is configurable with SIP only with the Dialogic SR140 when using SIP, and is not available when using H.323. If you are using H.323 and need outbound caller ID, this will need to be set up on the media gateway that the SR140 is communicating with on your network.

When configured for SIP, by default the SR140 shows anonymous as the outbound caller ID information when transmitting.

Open the Doctransport Module from Enterprise Fax Manager and go to your FOIP faxing solution and choose configure Brooktrout. Open Advanced Mode.

Now we will set this up in the Brooktrout configuration tool IP Parameters in the Call Control Parameters from 'anonymous' to a number to pass in the SIP_From field, as such:

sip_From=1234567@128.152.56.56

in this example we would be passing 1234567 though as the caller ID number.

As always if you have questions regarding this configuration or anything else in the world of faxing, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at The Fax Guys, we are always happy to help.
