This installment will walk you through the process of debugging your RightFax SMTP email gateway.

To debug the SMTP gateway first stop the RightFax service.

The SMTP service can be debugged in real time using the Debug option for the service in RightFax for at-a-glance troubleshooting.

You can also run debugging via command prompt. We will cover this process in detail now.

first, Stop the RightFax SMTP E-mail Gateway.

Open an elevated command prompt.

Type the following:
<RightFax Folder>GatewaySMTPGateway.exe -D -1 -SGATEWAYn > C:SMTPGateway.log

where n= The Gateway number

This process creates an output log titled SMTPGateway.log that can be viewed in NotePad for troubleshooting

You'll want to make sure you recreate whatever issue you are having while the debugging is running so associated errors and reporting will be trapped.

depending on the issue determined by reviewing the SMTP gateway debugging further troubleshooting with Telnet and using the SMTPDump applet in RightFax may also be necessary. We will cover these topics in a future video.
