Hello my name is Jay Campbell with The Fax Guys for RightFax University.

This video discusses fax routing logic when using dialing rules to restrict outbound faxes to a range of channels on your fax board or boardless solution in an environment using multiple remote board servers. And specifically how to prevent faxes from getting stuck in "Scheduled to be Sent" status indefinitely.

Here is a diagram of a typical environment using a single RightFax production server, and 2 Remote Doctransport servers that can process outbound faxes.

When using dialing rules that restrict outbound sending to a range of channels, you cannot Least Cost Route (LCR) faxes to another server.

When you LCR faxes to another DocTransport server, RightFax does not use channels to LCR the faxes. Essentially, dialing rules, configured to LCR and restrict outbound sending to a range of channels, force DocTransport to attempt something it is not capable of doing--you are conflicting the programatic logic.

If you need to configure dialing rules to LCR faxes to other DocTransport servers, and you would also like to restrict the faxes to a range of channels, configure your dialing rules like the following:

Server A
Pattern: Appropriate pattern match for dialing rule
Send via FaxServer: Destination server that will send the fax

Server B
Pattern: Appropriate pattern match for dialing rule
Send via FaxServer: MUST be the server that owns this dialing rule
Send on Specific Range of Channels: Appropriate range of channels for this dialing rule

In this example, Server A will route the fax to Server B for transmission. Server B is where the channel restrictive channels reside. Server A does NOT restrict outbound document to a range of channels.

The server that will actually be sending the fax should be the only server with dialing rules that restrict outbound faxes to a range of channels.

If you have further questions or concerns regarding dialing rules, get in touch with The Fax Guys, we are always happy to assist.
