This video shows you how to resolve an error when attempting to route faxes through the RightFax SMTP Gateway module.

With this issue when using RightFax, while inbound routing faxes via the SMTP gateway, an error message appears and email routing is unsuccessful.

When this occurs, inbound faxes are being received into FaxUtil, however users who are setup to route via SMTP gateway do not receive the email route as expected. The history of the fax never indicates a successful email send and when running the SMTP gateway in Debug mode, an error appears.

Error Message:
SSF:Returned error code 2 (0x00000002) - 'The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.'
<!>CFTS:Received permanent failure from the SMTP server. An email for fax handle [12345678] will not be sent.

To resolve this issue and get SMTP routing functioning as expected, locate the address in the FROM message field under the General Tab, Add angle brackets on either side of the address, for example, <Rightfax Email Gateway> or <Name@Domain.com>.

Note that this issue does not affect all versions of RightFax, and you should only implement this fix if you are experiencing the error indicating route failing and the error code listed in gateway debugging.
